Wow! So much good stuff here - I especially resonate with "Excitement and anxiety can feel identical and it’s worth the pause to figure out which is happening and often it’s both and that is okay"!! and "of course"!
Sybil Ottenstein is the best! Her insight and kindness helped me get through a couple tough years, and I still think about our conversations a lot. She opened her own practice recently, Brooklyn Psychedelic Therapy -- highly recommend!
great tips..a therapist that helped me soooo much in short period of time Dina Payne! Thank you! I had so much anxiety around not feeling good enough for someone and so I had done all this stuff...so much generous stuff...and she said..start from I've done enough..... like that was so powerful!! just stopping to recognize that I've done enough.... allowed me to improve that relationship and quiet the endless thoughts in my head
My mother-in-law once told me something that has been very helpful to me. She said: The sole cause of anger is disappointment. I have found that to be truly helpful for getting to whatever is actually bothering me. The cause of that anger.
I had a really great therapist a few years ago with whom I finally got up the courage to share something I felt so much shame about. Her response was “of course you did” and she connected all these dots for me and oh my gosh, the RELIEF.
I love this so much, especially the first one, care > why. I’ve spent so much time trying to unravel the intricacies of why certain things are the way they are, time and energy that would be so much better spent on care. Thank you for sharing this!
Lisa Cottrell - GA. She does addiction/ sobriety and recovery therapy, EDMR, cognitive behavioral therapy. She’s amazing, have worked with her for almost 7 years now.
I highly recommend Alexandra (Alex) Forbes of Vermont! She's awesome. She also, like Carmen Cool, says, "Of course you feel that way... I'd worry about you if you didn't feel that." She is very good at helping me to locate the feelings in my body and being there for them, letting them speak. I got to the other side of major depression with her help. I can't say enough good things about her....
Thank you for sharing, I love this list... some very very good nuggets there. I particularly like #10: Asking “what kind of relationship do I want with my life?” My therapist has helped me make some changes in my relationship to my life.
I decided earlier today to buy your book and a cooking session for my far-away son so that we can cook together! (I'm obviously going to have to buy the book for myself too once past the frenzy of the holiday)
- Evan Bodine at Alchemy Therapy & Yoga in Dallas, TX (but can see clients virtually in many other states) - so skilled at unpacking trauma, especially complex trauma
- Brittany Escuriex at Empowered Healing in Dallas - incredible relationship counselor.
LOVE THIS! Thank you so much for sharing <3

The relief!! Yea!
Melissa Angiel, ph.d
is a wise, kind, therapist who's made a difference in my
life and the lives of three friends. (And I like to think her last name
is pronounced Angel.)
Awww love that
