Hi all + happy new year! I hope the past couple of weeks have been as relaxing as possible. I took many naps and completed many puzzles (literally, not figuratively). I also took our dog Winky on lots of snowy/icy/muddy walks.
I don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions, but I am a big fan of reflecting on what made me happy over the past year + doing my best to make sure my life includes as many of those things as possible. A few of those things for me include:
being outside just me + Winky
being outside with friends!! (see here)
being inside on the couch
reading books that make me laugh
going to see movies in movie theaters
lifting heavy things + putting them back down (I plan to write more about my love of powerlifting this year…stay tuned)
doing just about anything with Grace
cooking by myself
cooking with my pal Emmet (see here!)
teaching my cooking classes!!!! more on those below!
Let me know in the comments some of the things that made you happy in 2022 that you’d like to bring with you in 2023 (comments are only open to paid subscribers!)
A while ago I shared most of my upcoming class schedule, but I’ve since added a couple of classes for January + February and wanted to put everything in one place for you. See below for all of my January + February classes, including one sliding scale ‘Cooking + Eating Together without Judgment’ class each month which I am so excited about (one on Saturday January 14th, the next on Saturday February 18th).
The goal of ‘Cooking + Eating Together Without Judgement’ classes is to repair + improve our relationships to our bodies. Whether you come to class because you’re recovering from an eating disorder, dismantling body image issues, or something else entirely, these classes will provide the joy of cooking in community and a supportive atmosphere to eat together without judgment. When you sign up for class, you’ll receive recipes, a grocery list, and a conversation topic. Class will begin with step-by-step cooking instruction and will be followed by time to eat together while we all talk about the conversation topic + share resources. We all get the most out of these classes when we talk together.
See below for those + the rest of my classes for the next two months! Hope to see you in one or more. As always if you want to attend a class but $ is a barrier, just let me know and we’ll work something out (you can just reply to this newsletter).

I relearned deep breathing. After wearing so many masks at work, day in and out, I needed to catch up on breathing. I am continuing this into the year and adding meditation, which I have struggled with, but am trying. Taking time with my kids who are growing and moving onto adulthood. And, as prior, continuing your classes! Ensures comradery in the kitchen and a meal for the family on Sundays.
What books have you been loving lately?
I’m starting Weightless by Evette Dionne tonight.
Also, would you ever consider a tapas class? I think it’s such a fun way to cook and eat!
