It's ironic that I've been thinking a lot lately about the bread box we had in our kitchen during my growing up years. It always had something in it...bread and beyond! So your writing today took me back to that cozy kitchen and the family bread box. I love the one you now have...alas, I just don't have counter space for one. But I do honor bread and love to break it with dear ones! ❤️

I love this so much. We have a bread basket and I love it (though I envy the crumb control of your bread box!) because I can’t bear to put bread away in the pantry. It is a counter-worthy food group for sure!

This is an older thread, but I just became a subscriber today so I have thoughts to add! Julia, I would love to buy the corner bread box thing bc its so cute, but I've heard from some people that bread lasts longer in the fridge than on the counter. We keep a variety of sliced bread in our fridge (regular supermarket bread for my husband and sometimes fancy bakery sourdough for me.) We don't always go through it super fast. Do you have thoughts about refrigerated vs. non-refrigerated bread?

thanks for subscribing!!! it does last a while in the fridge, but I think it dries out a lot – I think a bread box is great if you go through bread fairly quickly, and also we use ours as a place to stash not only bread but also other things that gather on our counter — a half-eaten bag of chips clipped at the top, for example. Freezing bread works very well if you really want it to last! You can freeze slices and then just stick them in your toaster — they're not as dried out as refrigerated and the longevity is more than the bread box. does that help?!

Yes! What I'm taking from this is: if you're going to eat it fast, breadbox. If you're going eat it slow, freezer. :) Thank you for responding and for all your great tips.
